The story

Every house has one object that carries its name, and for the Maison it is this one. A pelisse was the fur-lined coat of a cavalry officer, worn thrown over one shoulder. The name is a small joke and a serious promise: the parfum is made for the coat, not against it. It leaves no stiffness, no dust and no cloud of alcohol, only the lightest trace of the house scent.

Made with

Water, vegetable glycerin and panthenol to condition the coat, a plant-derived solubiliser at the lowest working level, and the Mayfair to Marina composition at a fraction of a per cent. Preserved with a food-grade system proven by efficacy testing.

The complete ingredient list is published here and on the pack when the first batch is assessed, before anything is sold.

Made without

Alcohol of any kind, essential oils, phenols, salicylates, sulfates, parabens, MIT, formaldehyde releasers, dyes, aloe or chamomile extracts. The full leave-out list.

Questions

About Eau de Pelisse.

Can I use Eau de Pelisse on a cat?

Yes. It is formulated for cats as well as dogs: no alcohol, no essential oils, a neutral pH and a very low fragrance level. Mist onto your hands and smooth over the back and sides rather than spraying the cat directly, and never near the face. If your cat has a skin condition, ask your vet first.

Why alcohol-free?

Most perfume mists carry their scent in ethanol, which dries skin and coat and is a hazard when licked. Eau de Pelisse carries its scent in water with a plant-derived solubiliser instead, which is also why it ships as ordinary goods rather than as a flammable liquid.

How often should I use it?

Once a week at most. A dog's or cat's nose is far more sensitive than ours, so the Maison's advice is to keep the scent a whisper your companion barely notices.

Is it a deodoriser or a treatment for odour?

It is a cosmetic finishing mist that lightly scents a clean coat. It is not a medicine and does not treat any condition. Persistent odour can have a health cause, so mention it to your vet.
