The story

The lait is oat milk, fermented for the Maison by a single culture and used nowhere else. Bain de Lait pairs it with oat beta-glucan and date seed oil, a gift of the Gulf, in a bottle of ivory aluminium that will outlast its contents and take a refill pouch in the second release.

Made with

Coco glucoside with an amino-acid cleanser for a tear-free, low-foam lather. Fermented oat milk, oat beta-glucan and date seed oil to condition. Panthenol for suppleness. The Mayfair to Marina composition at a fraction of a per cent, and a pH balanced for the skin of dogs and cats. Nothing of animal origin.

The complete ingredient list is published here and on the pack when the first batch is assessed, before anything is sold.

Made without

Sulfates, parabens, alcohol, essential oils, phenols, salicylates, MIT, formaldehyde releasers, dyes, aloe or chamomile extracts. The full leave-out list.

Questions

About Bain de Lait.

How often should I bathe my dog or cat with Bain de Lait?

Most dogs do well with a bath every four to eight weeks, and most cats rarely need one at all. Between baths, Écume de Soie cleans without water. Your vet or groomer can advise for your companion's coat type and lifestyle.

Is Bain de Lait sulfate-free, and does that matter?

Yes. It cleanses with sugar-derived glucosides and an amino-acid cleanser, which make a softer, lower foam than sulfates and are gentler on skin and coat. A quieter lather also rinses out faster.

Why oat milk, and not camel milk?

Oat milk is plant-derived, so one formula can be made, shipped and sold in every market without the veterinary paperwork that any ingredient of animal origin needs at a border. It is also gentle on both species and contains nothing a cat cannot lick. A camel milk edition made and sold only in the United Arab Emirates may follow. The formula is assessed by an independent cosmetic safety assessor before sale; the full ingredient list is published before launch.

Does Bain de Lait treat itching or skin problems?

No. It is a cosmetic shampoo that cleanses and conditions. It does not treat, prevent or cure itching, infection, parasites or any other condition. If your companion is scratching or has sore skin, see your vet.
